Winter Sketchbook pages 1-5

If anyone has been following me on my other websites, they will probably be well aware that I have been uploading pages from my Winter Sketchbook every day. And if you have, then chances are that you have been getting rather tired of seeing them, since I've been uploading them in different increments, depending on the website.

What I've been too lazy to mention however, is that the repeated uploading of the same pages is meant to be an exercise of habit and desensitization for me. Not only do I have the goal of being more consistent in my rate of content uploading, but I want get over that self loathing of my work, be they good or bad. By leaving the winter sketchbook pages as they are, and uploading them in different batches on different days, I hope to get over that fear of showing "bad art" to people.

The Importance of Drawing for Oneself

A little over a month ago, I was visiting a friend in Sacramento for the weekend to attend an anime convention. Between roaming around dressed as a cat or a Heartless, we often went around the city to go shopping, and there I found a wonderful moleskin sketchbook bound with a leather strap. It was designed to look like one of those old travel journals, and I could not help but draw this near the cover.

Aside from some rendering reference from a favorite dragon artist of mine, this was completely done from my imagination, with no fucks given as to whether the composition was nice or whether were was twinning going on or other such things.

I gotta say, even though I didn't like this one bit during the time I was drawing it and for a few days after, I admit that I actually like it a lot.

Damn, I miss being able to just draw freely.

Very First ZBrush Doodle

For my intermediate modeling class, we have started a "ZBrush Sketchbook", where we get to make whatever we want.

I don't know why I always default to bat creatures when doodling, but I'm not complaining.
